The Base Borden Military Museum tells the story of CFB Borden from its birth as Camp Borden in 1916, stands as a testament to the nation’s rich military heritage including the various units and schools that have served here. Established in 1976, it began as an amalgamation of the various corps museums that existed on the base prior to the Museum’s creation offering visitors a comprehensive journey through Canada’s military history.

Exhibits and Collections

Located on the grounds of CFB Borden, it has numerous items, equipment and vehicles from all eras of Canadian military history, including a large number of historic armoured vehicles and aircraft displayed around the base. This reflects Borden’s history as the birthplace of both the Royal Canadian Air Force as well as the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps.

Those interested in the history of the RCAF at Borden can visit the newly renovated Hangar 11 Air Annex, a restored First World War aircraft hangar and birthplace of the RCAF. The renovations were completed as part of the celebration of the RCAF’s 100th anniversary in 2024.

For the tank aficionados, a visit to the Major-General F. F. Worthington Memorial Park “Tank Park” is a must see, with multiple armoured vehicles surrounding a large memorial to the father of the armoured corps. The park is located just behind the main museum building.
