Why Your Support Is So Important

CFB Borden holds a unique place in the history of our region, our military and our Country. Its history is tied to the development of Simcoe County, as a major economic driver for more than a century. It is the birthplace of two major portions of our military – the Air Force and the Armoured Corps. It trained the soldiers that served at Vimy Ridge and their bravery and accomplishment set the stage for Canada’s independence.

Protecting and promoting this vital history is the responsibility of more than just our Museum’s staff. The Friends of the Base Borden Military Museum is committed to sharing the stories of our soldiers, sailors and air crew who have passed through the gates of Borden for more than a century. We encourage you to look through this website to find the ways that you can support us in this mission and become a Friend of Borden too.

For more than a century, CFB Borden has stood as the foundation of Canada’s military excellence—a place where generations of soldiers, aviators, and service personnel trained, served, and sacrificed to protect our nation. From the trenches of the First World War to today’s state-of-the-art training facilities, Borden’s legacy is woven into the very fabric of Canadian history.

The Friends of the Base Borden Military Museum exist to ensure these stories of courage, resilience, and innovation are never forgotten. As a registered charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and community partners to:

  • Preserve more than 20,000 historic artifacts, armored vehicles, and aircraft.
  • Restore and maintain iconic heritage spaces like Hangar 11 and the Major-General Worthington Memorial Park.
  • Deliver educational programs that inspire over 3,000 students and thousands of visitors each year.
  • Celebrate the lives and contributions of Canada’s service personnel, past and present.
